Phone Tariffs
All tariffs offer Telephone and SMS flat rate to all German networks.
But only few tariffs offer a real Data flat rate without throttling.

24.99 EUR/month: 6 GB data volume with LTE Max up to 225 MBit/s download, up to 50 MBit/s upload, then throttling to 32 KBit/s – quasi offline! Currently without 5G. Connect option. Internet telephony (VoIP). Landline number for nationwide availability.
Tip for rare additional Data Volume Requirements
If data volume is used up, I recommend booking a Day Pack unlimited (unlimited high-speed volume from the time of booking until 23:59 on the following day!) for 5.99 €. Convenient ordering via the “My o2” app!
Attention! Once a Day Pack has expired, you cannot immediately book a new one! Several days until the next billing period cannot be bridged without gaps. (see next tip!).
Tip for constant additional Data Volume Requirements
This low-cost tariff also offers the options o2 my Data unlimited and o2 my Data unlimited (1 month) for 39.99 EUR/month each.
Convenient ordering/cancelling via the “My o2” app or customer portal!
For long-term/permanent use, the former option is ideal. This runs with the monthly billing period of your tariff (pro-rated if not started at the beginning of the billing period).
For short-term additional use, the second option “(1 month)” is ideal because it runs for exactly one month and ends automatically.
The combination of o2 Free S Boost with o2 my Data unlimited means:
real LTE flat rate, 3 multicards and up to 7 datacards for 64.98 EUR!

39.95 EUR/month: 10 GB data volume with LTE Max up to 300 MBit/s download, up to 50 MBit/s upload. Afterwards throttling to 64 KBit/s for download, 16 KBit/s for upload. WLAN hotspot flat rate. EU roaming incl. Switzerland and the UK. Max. 10 additional SIM cards with same phone number (Multi-SIM card) for use e.g. in a Tablet Computer – 4.95 EUR/month each! This drives up the costs! In the past, private customers only got two Multi-SIM cards and business customers five, but without extra charge!
Tip for Telekom Tariffs with limited Data Volume
If no WLAN is available and the data volume of the smartphone tariff is to be conserved/used up, you can book a DayFlat unlimited (24 h unlimited data volume from booking) for 5.95 EUR.

Throttling to 32 kbit/s w/o purchase of data volume - practically offline!
For comparison: Telefónica offers 10 GB for 14.99 EUR or 2.5 GB for 6.99 EUR via SMS completely without coercion if data volume is used up.

Use at home and in another place
Ideal solution for all those who regularly download large amounts of data at home or, for example, in the garden or on the campsite and do not have DSL!
Telefónica o2 my Data Spot can only be used in stationary LTE routers without telephony function, which require a permanent wired power connection (i.e. Telefónica o2 HomeSpot-Router, Fritz!Box 6890LTE or Huawei B528s-23a). The tariff can and may only be used at the specified domestic residential address and at another address within Germany with verified LTE availability (use abroad not possible). One-time connection charge of 49.99 EUR.
Telefónica o2 my Data Spot Standard (39.99 EUR/month): 100 GB high-speed volume with LTE Max up to 225 MBit/s for download, then reduced to 32 KBit/s for the rest of the billing month (i.e. quasi offline – or buy additionally 15 GB inclusive volume for 14.99 EUR). 24 months minimum contract period. o2 HomeSpot Router for 25,00 EUR one-off payment. The first 12 months reduced to 29,99 EUR/month.

In battery operation up to 20 MBit/s download, up to 5 MBit/s upload. Tips
No Resellers
Although the above-mentioned smartphone tariffs are more expensive than those of resellers (discounters like freenet/mobilcom-debitel, Drillisch etc.), I highly recommend concluding a contract directly with a mobile network carrier (Telekom, Telefónica o2 or Vodafone).
To put it diplomatically: it is less stressful. 
Contract Renewal Offers
For new customers, there are often favourable offers that existing customers do not get. In this case, you should negotiate with the provider and, if necessary, cancel (and then negotiate again to continue the contract with better conditions). Sometimes it is also enough to check in the mobile phone provider's app or online on its customer service platform whether a contract extension or a change of tariff is possible and what the current conditions are for this. Many customers have already experienced that the chances of getting better tariff conditions are best about three months before the end of the minimum contract term. But this also depends on other factors, so that sometimes you can even get a very good contract extension offer after five months. So it's worth investing a few minutes of time occasionally …
Connect Option
This is what Telefónica Germany calls the possibility of using data volume on several mobile devices: 2 additional SIM cards (Multicards, same phone number, optionally as eSIM) for the use of phone and SMS flat rates as well as internet at no extra cost. Add up to 7 SIM cards (data only) for additional mobile devices free of charge at any time via the “My o2” app + manage SIM profiles. All SIM cards may use the data volume of the tariff!
Partner Card / Combi Benefit
Telefónica Germany offers its existing customers so-called partner cards with up to 50% discount. These are not only suitable for couples and families, but also as additional tariffs for customers with multiple devices. In this way, an expensive “o2 Free Unlimited Max” tariff becomes affordable as a partner card and cheaper together with the small tariff offering the combi benefit than booked alone.
